The Newly Elected President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo takes Oath of
Office today 7th January 2017. In His Inaugural speech, he promises to reduce
the taxes in Ghana and boast National Development. He clearly stated that
Development and Growth will not come from the Public Sector but the Private
Sector and promises co-operation with the Private Sector to create Jobs. In his
speech, he encourages all Ghanaian saying "It's time to try that business
ideas again. We will reduce taxes to recover the momentum of our economy."
I strongly hope and pray that he will fulfill these promises because here in
Nigeria taxes are being increased. Both the Nigerian Election winner and the
Ghanaian Election Winner ran on the Train of CHANGE! Nigerians are yet to see
the exact Change that was promised. Will Ghana's fate be the same?
I wonder why they did not provide water for him while making his
speech. The speech was so hot that the man was almost choking. Was it the words
that were making him to cough or the weight of the promises? And the Ghana
people instead of telling him "Sorry" were busy laughing. I believe
some guys will say that a Political Opposition is Voodooing him.
Hahahahahahahaha! That's just for laughs! Anyway, he was resolute in his speech
and pushed through the chokes and coughs! He promised a better Ghana and
declared that "Change begins with you". Really? I think I have heard
that statement somewhere in West Africa before both from Presidents who
defeated sitting Presidents or you can say Opposition Parties who took over
from Ruling Parties. The only difference is that one made the statement too
almost late while the other made it very early.
He stated that there is no other better opportunity to invest and
make it in Ghana and that Ghana is open for business. The New President gave
that assurance saying "We will build a confident Ghana. We will reinvent
the Spirit that made Ghana the leading light of the African Continent. We will
work with our neighbors and friends on the Continent to enhance peace,
democracy and political stability."
He made it known that the task ahead will not be easy and it is
enormous. But he is confident that the Ghanaian Home and Abroad will rise to
the Occasion, noting that "they always do. Others have done it, so can we.
Though our challenges are pressing, so our strength."
**coughs***coughs***
He asked the Parliament to join him in this task for no President,
No Parliament, No Government can do these all by themselves. He declared that
Ghana People have summoned the Change that is on and they must work the work
that is set before them. In addressing the people, he stated "Fellow
Citizens, you must be at the center of the change. The change we voted for can
start with individuals. We can start our little changes in our behavior and
practices. I asked you to be citizens, citizens, not spectators, citizens, not
subjects, responsible citizens upholding your communities and our nation. Let
us work until the work is done. Holy Scriptures in Galatians 6:9 says and I
quote, let us not become weary in doing good: for at the proper time we shall
reap our harvest, if we do not give up. I assure you my fellow citizens as you
have trusted me with this mandate, I will advance my course with humility. I
will speak for greater justice".
The President promises to defend the rights of the citizens and
make Ghana a great Nation in Africa.
Can Nana Akufo-Addo fulfill all his campaign and inauguration
promises? What do you want me to say? I became hopeful for the Ghana People!
The speech made great sense and I was just loving it. It is time to get into
action. Congratulations Mr. President. Please, President well!
Do you think Ghana will experience the Change They Voted for?
